India’s leading online food delivery platform, Swiggy, has reportedly announced a ‘Jumpstart package’ to support its partner restaurants in resuming business operations following the government’s Unlock 1 manifesto. The package has been specifically designed to reinforce the revival, progression, and growth of businesses in the restaurant industry.

According to Paul Varghese, the Vice-President of Supply at Swiggy, the company’s ‘Jumpstart package’ has been designed by combining its learnings with research insights on current consumer needs. He has further stated that the package is expected to enhance Swiggy’s efforts towards ensuring quick wins for its partner restaurants amidst evolving consumer needs.

Sources cite that Swiggy’s ‘Jumpstart package’ intends to furnish training content on best practices to be observed in restaurant premises. The company focuses on providing safety kits at heavily subsidized prices as these are extremely essential to implement hygiene norms and business booster programs for the improvement of visibility and order volumes. It has accordingly announced a discount of 40 per cent for direct purchase of its safety kits and packaging materials. More than 40,000 restaurants have already been reported to avail this facility.

Swiggy has also provided the restaurants with an alternative to regularly upload images and videos depicting their safety practices to ensure trust among customers. These videos and images can be uploaded by restaurants on their Menu page created on Swiggy’s customer app.

Swiggy has further provided an option of making payments twice a week to ensure the smooth flow of cash to its restaurant partners. It has also launched the Swiggy Capital Assist Program focused on subsidized financing. The food delivery platform has also implemented a regular updates and new initiatives facility on the restaurant partner app to ensure the ease of doing business.

As per customer feedback, Swiggy needs to improve the hygiene and safety practices being observed by restaurants and delivery partners. Accordingly, the company has announced that the ‘Jumpstart package’ will provide maximum benefits to those restaurants that have higher hygiene ratings.
