Lenovo, a multinational technology company, has reportedly announced its plan to unveil its long-elusive, ThinkPad X1 Fold on 30th September.

Lenovo has showcased the prototype of the world’s 1st foldable PC at CES 2019. Sources familiar with the matter have reported that the company is currently set to commercially launch the product. The new product is a full-featured notebook computer, which is powered by an 11th Generation Intel Core Processor. It comes with a touchscreen display of 13.3 inches, along with a resolution of 2K. It is, however, the size of a 16-open book.

The innovative product launch can be credited to the integration of exclusive flexible technology by Lenovo, owing to which, the foldable design of the screen has been realized. This innovative OLED display screen of ThinkPad X1 Fold has been built by the company in collaboration with its supplier, LG.

Over the past 4 years, LG and Lenovo have partnered up to develop solutions for various technical issues prior to attaining the new flexible technology. The companies have deployed a magnesium alloy-carbon fiber frame and an exclusive hinge technology to develop the folding structure, which remains firm & flat after unfolding. Additionally, the screen of this new product meets the durability test requirements.

ThinkPad X1 Fold is presently available for pre-orders at the starting price of $2,499 (nearly ₹1.84 lakh). The company is planning to start shipping the product in the coming weeks. It has a 4:3 aspect ratio & 300 nits peak brightness. Users will also receive 95% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space, along with its support for Dolby Vision. It also comes with 8-GB of LPDDR4X RAM and a 50-Wh battery that can last for over 8.5 hours.

When folded, ThinkPad X1 Fold measures 158.2x236.0x27.8mm, while in the unfolded state, the product measures 299.4x236.0x11.5mm. Additionally, it weighs 999 grams.
