Edelweiss Infrastructure Yield Plus, an alternative investment fund of EAAA (Edelweiss Alternative Asset Advisors Ltd.), together with its portfolio firm Sekura Roads Ltd, has reportedly acquired two road assets of Navyuga group for an undisclosed amount. However, reliable sources cite that the deal value could be around $150 million.

According to sources familiar with the knowledge of the matter, the company has acquired Navayuga Dibang Infra Projects Private Limited (Arunachal Pradesh) and Navayuga Dhola Infra Projects Limited (Assam). A wing of Navayuga Engineering Company Ltd., Navayuga Road Projects Pvt. Ltd, has purchased these two assets, making this acquisition one of the first infrastructure deals completed during the lockdown period.

As per the press release, with this deal, Sekura Roads has started its journey to becoming one of the leading asset investors and owners in highway infrastructure. To contribute to increasing assets needs of the nation, the fund will help Indian infrastructure companies to focus on core construction business and recycle their capital.

Commenting on the deal, Hemant Daga, Deputy CEO of Edelweiss Global Investment Advisory said that acquiring operating road infrastructure assets offers impetus to the revival of the sector by aiding construction companies to release capital and de-lever, allowing them to start new projects which contribute to the nation and is becoming the main model to meet the nation’s infrastructure capital requirement.

Edelweiss has assets under management of more than 28,000 crores. The company has been investing in strategically important road infrastructure projects. With the government focus on boosting the economic activity on northeastern part of the nation, Dibang and the Dhola highways are of strategic importance as they ensure smooth connectivity between North East India and the other parts of India.
