Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest vehicle manufacturer in India, has recently announced its plan to resume operations at its manufacturing plant in Gurugram from 18th May.
The company has already restarted its productions at the Manesar plant on 12th May. However, it has not received the government permission to resume the operations at the Gujarat plant as the facility is in the containment zone of the coronavirus pandemic. Its Gurugram facility rolls out various models such as Super Carry, Ignis, Vitara Brezza, and S-Cross, which are light commercial vehicles.
The move comes along the heels of the decision made by the Union government to enable a gradual resumption of the economic activity through the relaxation of the lockdown measures in various regions that are identified as orange and green zones.
Various carmakers had closed their factories due to the imposition of the lockdown measures by the government on 25th March. These measures were imposed to significantly curb the spread of coronavirus. Maruti Suzuki has been working with the suppliers to develop SOPs (standard operating procedures), to be followed by the company after the resumption of its operations.
The company has reportedly informed the public regarding the restart of its vehicle production at the Gurgaon plant from 18th May 2020. All the activities in the factory will be performed strictly in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the government. It is also focusing deeply on delivering the highest level of safety to its employees.
The vehicle manufacturer, based in New Delhi, has put in place various specific standard operating procedures for the staff members in the authorized service centers, showrooms, and factories. This has been carried out to ensure a smooth resumption of its business as well as delivery of services without making any physical contact with the customers.
